Micro Small & Medium Enterprises

1. The IICA Forum on SMEs held a discussion on 24th November, 2009 on the theme “Limited Liability Partnership : a new platform for SME’s on 24th November, 2009. The forum was addressed by Sh. Salman Khursheed, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and Sh. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary MCA, Sh. Madhav Lal Development Commissioner MSME, Govt. of India and Sh. Jitest Khosla, OSD, IICA. Other speakers included Shri Vinayak S. Khanvalkar, Vice President ICSI, Sh. Santosh Kumar, Registrar, LLP, Sh. Subhash Lakhotia, Tax Planning & Investment Planning Consultant and Sh. Anil Bharadwaj, Secretary General, FISME as panelists. The Forum was attended by representatives of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)/ Development Commissioner MSME, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

2. Two workshops were held on January 21 & 22, 2010 on” Relevance of LLPs for SMEs” in partnership with Office of Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The workshops were attended by officials from the Ministry of MSME and MSME Development Institutes spread out all over India.

3. The second meeting of the IICA, Forum on SMEs was held on 5th March, 2010 on the theme “Financeability Issues for LLPs”. The Forum was allowed by representatives of Banks, Financial Institutions, Trade and Industry Associations and Government officials.

4. The third meeting of the IICA Forum on SMEs was held on 28th April, 2010 on the theme “Taxation Issues for LLPs”. Around 29 Participants from various SME Associations, MSME (DC), NSIC, FICCI, CII, SIDBI, SBI, ICWAI and ICSI participated. The presentation on taxation issue was made by Sh. Pramod Jain, CA, while a comprehensive overview of the LLP Act 2008 was provided by Mr. V.K. Agarwal, ICSI.
